Bruce is a multifaceted craftsman whose journey combines a deep expertise in technology with a passion for guitar making. He often states, “Everything you have done, prepares you for what you will do next.” This philosophy has guided his remarkable career, leading him to his current role as a master guitar-maker.

Art, Guitar, and Woodworking

From a young age, Bruce demonstrated a talent for sketching and once considered a career as an artist. At 14, he was challenged by his older brother to learn guitar, sparking a lifelong journey into music and a new outlet for his creativity.

A self-taught woodworker, Bruce’s skills began in his garage some 40 years ago. With a keen interest in hand tools and traditional woodworking methods, he honed his craft building furniture, exotic boxes, and other unique pieces, learning how to “read” wood along the way. His decision to build guitars was the merging of two passions: playing guitar and woodworking.

The Road to Building Custom Guitars

Bruce built his first guitar in 2004 during a class with renowned luthier Harry Fleishman, igniting his passion for guitar making. Over the years, he took additional classes with Harry and Robbie O’Brien, and spent time in Malaga, Spain, studying under master luthier Pablo Requena.

Bruce now dedicates himself to building custom guitars, operating workshops in both Houston and Kerrville, Texas.  Each instrument he creates is tailored to the individual style and taste of the musician, ensuring a personalized and unique product. These one-of-a-kind guitars are handmade from personally selected woods, chosen for their superior tonal quality and stunning visual appearance.  These instruments are adorned with custom rosettes, decorative bindings, and inlays to create functional pieces of art. Indeed, artistic expression is a hallmark of his craftsmanship.
